Rio Tinto has recently announced an ambitious strategy to grow our business and decarbonise. From sourcing mining solutions of the future, to creating businesses with host communities, to building new supply chains around our greenfield assets, the importance of Procurement in Rio Tinto’s success has never been greater.
To help us with this challenge, we are looking for a Principal Advisor, Warehouse Management to Support Rio Tinto Global Spare Parts project in the lead role for warehouse management to improve efficiency and effectiveness of parts availability for maintenance.
Reporting to the Manager, Inventory Management, some of the accountabilities of the role will include:
- Establish relationships with key stakeholders within Rio Tinto business units who direct and control Warehouse Management processes
- Establish and facilitate Warehouse Management SME community of practice forums and workshops to connect, share and collaborate to build capability and lift performance with initial focus on:
- Parts consolidation and returns for planned work
- Establish and socialize proposal for warehouse governance including implementation plan
- Championing implementation and understanding of existing warehouse management procedures whilst improving and updating existing content
- Leading and developing guidance content, common support tools and systems for identified gaps
- Establish global metrics to monitor process health
- Support requirements gathering for warehouse technology solutions
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Leadership and operational experience in a mining, minerals or metals warehousing operation
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to influence senior levels without direct authority
- Proven ability to produce results with little direct supervision, whilst working in remote team environment
- Experience engaging with a broad range of customers and stakeholders
- Strong leadership skills with an aspiration to develop people and positively contribute to a winning culture
