About the role

The Diesel Transition Program (DTP) is at the forefront of our strategy to reduce diesel-based carbon emissions. The Global Equipment and Diesel Transition team is responsible for accelerating technical solutions to achieve Rio Tinto's ambitious emission reduction goals.
We are seeking a Principal Analyst to join our team, where you will support strategy development and lead the commercial analysis needed to inform decision-making and prioritise diesel reduction projects across our global operations.

Reporting to the Strategy Manager - DTP, you will be required to:
Lead in-depth financial analysis to evaluate the viability of diesel displacement initiatives, including electrification, alternative fuels, and other innovative opportunities
Support the development and execution of the diesel transition strategy, refining strategic elements as industry and technology landscapes evolve
Identify market insights and industry trends to shape and strengthen strategic positioning
Evaluate and support investment proposals, including preparing presentations and materials for senior leadership and investment committees
Develop and strengthen commercial acumen within the team, fostering strategic thinking and analytical skills to support informed decision-making
Assess business development and strategic / commercial partnership opportunities
Engage and influence key stakeholders – including Decarbonisation Office, Renewable Energy, and relevant innovation and operational teams - to provide commercial support and drive project progression
Foster a culture of zero harm and continuous improvement
