About the Role

As the Principal Architect/Technical Lead for the Environmental portfolio, you will play a key, hands on role in the technical design, development, implementation and support of cross-functional, cloud enabled application solutions.  

Working with the Product Owner, you will be involved in exciting up-coming capital projects as well as provide day to day technical guidance, support and leadership for the Environmental DevOps team.  

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Product Owner and offshore DevOps Team.
  • 50/50 hands on architecture and development work with a focus on technical solution design and operational excellence 
  • Provide leadership thinking in product quality, technical excellence and software engineering practices.
  • Work with the Product Owner to develop plans and roadmaps
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the DevOps team and be prepared to jump in and get hands on technical as required; a one team mindset
  • Provide technical guidance to team members, including on software architecture and design patterns, code review/deployments and process improvement. 
  • Establish CICD practices that will support and improve team productivity at a sustainable velocity
  • Coach and support team members on their continuous improvement journey 
  • Agile/Scrum planning and process leadership 

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in an IT/STEM related discipline
  • Excellent experience working across a range of technologies with demonstrated experience in the design and architectural outcomes for implementation of application software
  • Strong background in understanding and resolving business problems with proven experience in designing and developing fit for purpose technical solutions
  • Substantial experience working with vendor products, in-house technologies, relational databases (SQL) and integration technologies e.g Mulesoft, Streamsets
  • Demonstrated experience working in Agile delivery teams, sprint planning, backlog refinements etc
  • Experience with GitFlow, DevOps and CI/CD processes
  • Ability to establish, guide and support the team in adhering to best practice standards including BHP internal technology standards.
  • Experience working in complex greenfields and/or brownfields systems landscape
  • Demonstrated experience working in the following technologies will be an advantage: OSI Soft, ASP.NET. C#, SQLServer, Azure Cloud, AWS Cloud, Angular, Python, Javascript, machine learning technologies
