ABOUT PERTH OFFICE

South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This is a permanent full-time position, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate must be based at our head office in Perth. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home)

Reporting to Group Manager Assurance key responsibilities include: 

  • Building trust and credibility with senior stakeholders and management to support successful delivery of the internal audit mandate and improvement of risk management and effectiveness in South32
  • Working collaboratively with the operations and functions to effectively plan, execute and deliver outcomes for internal audits.
  • Add value by influencing senior stakeholders (including VPs) on risk-and-control design and execution.
  • Actively contribute to the development of the annual internal audit plan through analysing key risk trends, engaging with internal and external stakeholders and applying operational experience and knowledge.

ABOUT YOU 

We are looking for an experienced professional who is keen to add value through the design and execution of value adding internal audits that drive improvement in our risk management and organisational performance.

As a qualified technical, risk management or finance professional, you will ideally have experience and demonstrated capability in: 

  • Remaining flexible, applying intuition, and challenging the status quo by identifying opportunities to improve operational practices
  • Functional / Operational experience within the resources industry
  • General knowledge of risk management, audit principles and control requirements
  • Developing networks with internal and external stakeholders (such as the external service providers) by always acting with high ethical standards, objectivity, transparency, due care and professionalism
  • Well organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work autonomously and lead a team of internal and/or external resources to deliver high quality projects or audits 

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Finance or Technical profession
  • Professional accreditation or certification in auditing / fraud investigations preferred but not essential.
