About the role

Reporting to the Manager BOS & Operations Performance (Operation Services), we are seeking experienced improvement and operational leaders with experience in the application of BHP Operating System. 

As a Principal BOS & Operational Performance, you’ll be a practitioner‑coach who partners with leaders to apply BOS with intent. You will identify, analyse and frame improvement opportunities, translate strategy into disciplined routines, and deliver measurable uplift in safety, productivity and culture while building capability across sites and teams.

Your key deliverables include: 

  • Identify, implement and evaluate improvement initiatives that enhance safety, effectiveness and efficiency across OS and BHP systems and processes
  • Frame opportunities and value drivers, determine boundaries, risks and investment logic, support evidence-based decisions aligned to business objectives
  • Coach leaders and teams to embed BOS principles and practices, overcome barriers to maturity, and sustain disciplined execution through standard routines
  • Integrate across functions, operations and regions to solve complex challenges and drive replication of best practice
  • Monitor and use performance metrics to surface issues, promote problem solving, and drive outcomes on a 12–24 month horizon.

About youWe are looking for individuals that possess business knowledge, demonstrate excellence in leadership on a day-to-day basis, who are innovative with a bias to action, effectively influence others and have a strong ability to build capability in others and lead change.To be successful you will demonstrate the following: 

  • Demonstrated experience coaching BOS and/or leading in a BOS way (e.g., Supervisor/Superintendent), with a track record of continuous improvement delivery.
  • Strong problem-solving capability (root-cause, practical problem solving) and comfort using data to inform decisions.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple levels and stakeholder groups in complex operational environments.
  • Operational domain experience in Maintenance and/or Production highly regarded.
  • The ability to effectively identify opportunities to increase value and eliminate hazards, waste and variability.

Location

In this full-time permanent position, you will be based in Queensland. You will be working site based on a Monday to Thursday roster with occasional interstate travel required.
