About the Role

Reporting to the Manager BOS Systems and Analytics, the Principal BOS Systems is responsible for guiding the development of our software solutions for the purpose of strengthening the adoption and embedment of the BHP Operating System across BHP.

Your core accountabilities will include

  • Investigates, recommends, designs and manages the delivery of systems enhancements in line with business and stakeholder needs by:
  • Analysing data and systems to identify and assess function-driven problems or improvement opportunities and determine the feasibility of proposed solutions in consultation with technology experts and key stakeholders.
  • Assessing and endorsing proposed technical designs for functional systems by considering the downstream impact of potential changes and anticipating/correcting for identified issues when they arise.
  • Establishing, modifying and maintaining data models and/or system outputs across complex functional systems and raising quality or design issues when identified.
  • Selecting and implementing problem solving tools/methodologies appropriate to the problem/context.
  • Actively works to develop a deep understanding of customer needs and uses this understanding to guide the development of systems aligned to leadership intent.
  • Works collaboratively with technology partners to support and maintain the BOS systems portfolio including testing solutions to refine and validate their effectiveness in overcoming the root cause of on or off-site problems.
  • Supports users through query an support request resolution, knowledge sharing and ensuring documentation and training material is up to date
  • Identifies, engages and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders with a view to deeply understand stakeholder needs, goals and challenges.  

About you

We are looking for individuals with technical business knowledge, demonstrate excellence, innovative with a bias to action and have a strong ability to build capability and lead change.

As a successful candidate, you will possess the following:

  • Degree or professional qualification in engineering, computer science, mathematics or related discipline
  • Experience leading system initiatives/projects, ideally in a global environment with high profile stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to develop and effectively present insights and recommendations
  • Exposure to mining is ideal but experience in other industries that utilise an operating system founded on lean principles would be highly regarded (e.g. manufacturing, health, finance, logistics, etc.)
  • You will have an understanding/exposure to continuous improvement methodologies and organisational change
