The Opportunity - Permanent, Full Time Position 

As the Principal Business Planner, you will play a pivotal role in navigating the strategic landscape and delivering the long-term plan for the Cannington operation. This role will offer a high level of operational and management engagement, liaising directly with the Operations and Company senior stakeholders

Reporting to the Group Manager Planning, key role responsibilities include: 
•    Develops the Opportunity Assessment (OA) and Life of Operation Plan (LoOP) through strong process management, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills
•    Provides specialist advice related to business value and priorities
•    Supports the compilation of the Business Plan and Business Summary Models used for Valuations
•    Supports functional excellence within Planning and is the key connection to the Operational and Functional representatives

About You 

You will have a passion and commitment to be part of a high-performance team focusing on South32’s Planning processes. You will have the ability to thrive in a team environment and build stakeholder relationships as well as be a natural problem solver and quickly be able to analyse problems and provide solutions.

In addition, we would like you to have:
•    Tertiary qualification in a technical field with extensive industry experience
•    High level of competency in process management and delivering critical work packages
•    Strong technical experience including the ability to identify and analyse options whilst appropriately applying value chain constraints
•    Excellent verbal and written communcation, incuding preperation of executive level materials.
•    Experience with cost modelling, capital estimation, and valuation modelling inputs.
•    Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with a natural abundance of energy, warmth and genuine enthusiasm 
•    Ability to manage multiple assignments, with the capability and desire to deliver “hands on” support with your team as and when necessary 
•    Advanced communication skills, including the ability to present results to technical and non-technical audiences
•    Proven ability to work independently and unsupervised
•    Highly self-motivated, results oriented, and delivery focused with a willingness and passion to drive improvement and innovation

Qualifications
•    Degree in Mining, processing, industrial, engineering, accounting or equivalate qualification gained through practical experience 
•    Second degree or postgraduate preferred, (MBA, marketing, or business)

This role will be preferably based at our offices in Brisbane QLD, however candidates from other locations within Australia are strongly encouraged to apply. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home).
