Principal Climate Change

Work Location: Fortescue Centre & Bennett St

  • Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Flexible, Part time or Full time, Monday - Friday

Fortescue is committed to taking a leadership position on climate change, setting ambitious emissions reduction targets. This role will be responsible for management of climate change matters including the tracking of performance against these targets and company disclosure. The role reports to the Manager Carbon and Climate Change. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide timely expert advice to the business on climate change, including on leading practice
  • Monitor performance against Company targets and support teams across the business to achieve these targets
  • Lead risk assessment processes to ensure climate-related risks and opportunities are adequately identified and addressed
  • Monitor the global climate change policy and regulatory landscape, providing advice to internal stakeholders on potential implications
  • Manage Climate Change disclosure including drafting of the Company's annual Climate Change Report  
  • Lead ESG assessments and undertake benchmarking activities such as Carbon Disclosure Project

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in climate change, sustainability or an equivalent
  • Experience in NGERs, GHG Protocol, SBTi, and/or other carbon accounting guidelines
  • Experience compiling sustainability reports
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working in the areas of Sustainability, Carbon, Climate Change, or similar
  • Experience in the resources, energy, manufacture or heavy industry or an ASX listed company
  • Advanced written, interpersonal and communications skills
