About the Role
- A key position in the Nickel West Planning and Technical team.
- Responsible for updating Closure Plans and related cost estimates.
- Responsible for coordinating the progressive mine rehabilitation program.
- Will actively work with stakeholders to build trust and deliver agreed outcomes.
- Challenging Perth-based opportunity at a time when Nickel West is rapidly growing.
This a permanent, full-time role. Whilst Perth-based, you will be required to visit sites periodically to perform role duties.

Reporting to the Nickel West Manager Water and Closure Planning, you will:
- Complete reviews / updates of site Closure Plans (per BHP Standards and legal obligations).
- Complete annual reviews /updates of the Nickel West closure cost estimate (per BHP Standards).
- Co-ordinate the design and execution of the mine rehabilitation program.
- Deliver technical and other closure studies to inform Closure Plan revisions.
- Provide input to statutory approvals, and track compliance with legal obligations.
- Provide closure input to Life of Asset and short and medium term mine planning.
- Maintain effective relationships on closure with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to processes and a culture where closure is embedded in business planning and decision-making.
About You
To be successful in this role you should possess:
- Bachelor of Science or Engineering in relevant discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in mining and/or other industry.
- Effective interpersonal / engagement and influencing skills.
- The abilities and energy to inspire those around you and help make BHP a sector leader in closure planning.
Location
Nickel West – Perth operates from City Square located in the heart of the Perth CBD. The building itself reflects the latest thinking in corporate workplace design and facilities with the centrepiece of the development being a 45 storey tower which is home to the other BHP group of companies in Western Australia.
