PERTH OFFICE

The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Legal and External Affairs, Finance, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk, and Technical. ABOUT THE ROLE

The Opportunity – Permanent Full-Time Position: This role will preferably be based at our head office in Perth. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home)

The role of the Supply Commercial Principal is part of the Commercial team and seeks to create, unlock, and protect the value of South32’s Australia operations. We will identify, evaluate, prioritize, and negotiate commercial opportunities on a value and risk basis to support the Company’s business plan.

Reporting to the Group Manager Energy & Commercial, key responsibilities are, but are not limited to:

  • Leading strategic commercial opportunities (from initiation to execution) related to high-risk dispute resolution, corporate development opportunities, lease arrangements, and land and infrastructure acquisition or divestments.
  • Leads the development of transaction structures, negotiation strategies, and mandates to negotiate complex commercial agreements in line with business objectives
  • Driving and coaching cross-functional teams to deliver commercial opportunities including economics to facilitate value-based investment decisions and identification of risk and uncertainties
  • Building commercial acumen across the business

ABOUT YOU 

  • Minimum of seven years in a commercial environment with M&A and transaction advisory services experience is preferred
  • Strong experience in developing commercial strategies and leading high-value strategic negotiations
  • Strategic/innovative thinking capability, with balanced commercial judgment
  • Expertise in discounted cash flow and valuation methodologies.
  • Experience in transaction structuring and transaction management
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal), including experience in presenting to and influencing senior management
  • Strong ability to develop interpersonal relationships, thrive in a team environment, and lead multi-disciplinary execution teams

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Commerce, Finance, Law or related disciplines
