About the Role

The propose of this role is to support assets and functions across BHP to adopt the engineering information management (EIM) framework in the most effective and efficient manner.  The EIM framework includes standards, processes and system requirements to ensure that the integrity of BHP’s engineering information is improved, and that engineering information is easy to create, find and maintain.

Reporting to Manager Engineering Information Management, your key accountabilities include:  

  • Work with key internal and external stakeholders to develop robust plans for assets and functions to adopt the requirements of the EIM framework in the quickest time and to deliver the most value.
  • Support assets and functions to execute these adoption plans of the EIM framework in the most effective and efficient manner e.g. analyse their standards, processes, and datasets related to tags and deliverables to determine gaps between their current state and that of the EIM framework.
  • Develop best practice EIM requirements to support projects’ handover to operations in the most effective and efficient manner.
  • Develop and improve the EIM framework to create more value for our customers, e.g. by incorporating learnings from the implementations at assets and functions.
  • Knows our EIM customers, build strong relationships with them and be obsessed with best meeting their needs and that of BHP.
  • Support the activities of the EIM strategy and initiative as required

About You

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing engineering information in an effective and efficient manner as part of Operations, Projects and/or Engineering in a heavy industry (e.g. Oil and Gas, Mining, Manufacturing).
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the systems and processes used for managing engineering information as data and models in lieu of traditional documents and drawings; Including experience with the configuration of the engineering data warehouse (EDW).
  • Proven experience in the end-to-end planning and delivery of improvement initiatives, or the implementation of a major change in a big project or organisation, using great stakeholder management and influencing approaches and where the tangible value delivered was measured.
  • Deep understanding of the operating model and interaction between the processes, systems and people of Projects, Engineering and Operations.
  • Engineering degree (or equivalent).
  • While it is not mandatory, Certification and experience in industry recognized improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and/or Lean will be advantageous.
