Nickel West is a fully integrated mine-to-market business. Our culture is rich with technical know-how, highly efficient and focused on innovation. About the Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager Asset Integrity, in the capacity of Principal Electrical Engineer, you will primarily provide governance, technical leadership and guidance to Nickel West in the pursuit of continuous improvement in the reliability and integrity of electrical systems and equipment within the business. Some of the accountabilities are, but are not limited to:
- Contributing to and technical support of the Fatality Elimination Program for electrical energy release
- Technical support to projects as well as resolving technical queries arising from site operations
- Electrical equipment integrity reviews and failure investigation services,
- Electrical safety electrical procedures, isolations, construction and design issues and,
- Continuous improvement of NiW standards and procedures including learnings from incidents, reviews, investigations and best practice industry standards for electrical systems and equipment
The integral role requires working collaboratively with key operational stakeholders and sharing of knowledge through the NiW electrical council and throughout the BHP maintenance networks.
About You

Ideally we are looking for someone who also possesses the following:
- Extensive working experience in a similar role and environment;
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering with a preference for admission to IE Aust National Engineers Register
- An extensive and higher level understanding of electrical power and distribution systems
- An ability to work collaboratively with sites and team members and to influence outcomes
- An improvement mindset
- Electrical safety focused in particular with specific knowledge of Arc Flash and electric shock;
- A clear and concise communicator
Location
Nickel West – Perth operates from City Square located in the heart of the Perth CBD. The building itself reflects the latest thinking in corporate workplace design and facilities with the centerpiece of the development being a 45 storey tower which is home to the other BHP group of companies in Western Australia.
