Purpose

This role provides employee relations advice and support to BHP’s Minerals Australia functions. 

Additionally, it will deliver on the Employee Relations Strategy for Minerals Australia enabling a positive culture through a highly engaged workforce and visible leadership of Our Charter Values.

About the Role

In this role, you will:  

  • Provide technical expertise to line leaders in managing complex industrial relations and other ER matters

  • Lead or facilitate enterprise bargaining

  • Provide advice and interpretation on employment instruments and legislation

  • Advise and support the business on dispute resolution processes

  • Proactively support and develop line leader capability

  • Contribute to and execute ER strategy to deliver optimal business outcomes

  • Support the Company in litigation proceedings, including the FWC and tribunal advocacy

  • Support risk assessment activities

  • Work as part of a broader global Employee Relations sub-function within the Human Resources function in a high trust, collaborative and flexible environment.

About You

You will ideally possess:  

  • Undergraduate degree in a human resources-related field or equivalent experience

  • Experience in enterprise bargaining, including drafting enterprise agreements and related materials

  • Experience in managing workplaces disputes

  • Sound commercial acumen in order to identify and mitigate commercial-related employee relations risks

  • Stakeholder management and influencing skills

  • Mining, Heavy Industry and/or Oil and Gas experience is advantageous

  • Extensive knowledge of the Australian industrial relations system and legislation, including keeping up to date with developments in IR reform and case law

This role requires an element of contact time (2-3 days per week in office - Brisbane) and travel to our operational sites as necessary.
