About the Role
We are currently recruiting a senior conveyor systems discipline professional to work within our Asset Engineering Governance and Technical Stewardship team.
In this highly specialised role, you will be the Subject Matter Expert for a network of over 400 conveyor systems in WAIO, focussing on reducing business risk, improving reliability and performance through the utilisation of best-in-class technical support and engineering practices.
Reporting to the Superintendent GTS – Conveyors Chutes Feeders, key responsibilities include:
- Technical Authority with decision rights for the conveyor systems discipline within WAIO
- Set strategic direction for the conveyor systems discipline in WAIO, including associated critical component performance (conveyor belt, pulleys, rollers etc.), to impact overall cost and efficiency while identifying improvement opportunities
- Represent the Asset in review and acceptance of new project delivered conveyor systems
- Build strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders including Engineering, Reliability Engineering, site General Manager and Managers, Superintendents, OS Maintenance, Supply and Inventory
- Use your network of external industry contacts to ensure currency of best-in-class technical support and engineering practices
- Provide coaching, mentoring to operational teams
- Provide engineering support to breakdowns
- Participation in Root Cause Analysis/Investigations and improvement implementation
- Engineering and improvement business case development
- Monitors compliance to minimum technical standards in respect to conveyor systems and critical components
- Approves and develops engineering design and equipment component standards, systems, and processes related to conveyor systems and critical components
About You
You will be a recognised and highly skilled engineering professional with expert knowledge of conveyor systems in a bulk materials handling environment. You thrive on delivering key outcomes focused around safety management, technical governance, and continuous improvement.
In addition, you will possess the following:
- A proven track record of safety management
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical)
- Proven success in a similar role with global experience preferred
- High level understanding of conveyor systems and individual component design, operations, maintenance, and asset management
- High level understanding and application of best-in-class engineering practices including conveyor systems relevant Australian and International Standards
- High level understanding of relevant WAIO engineering information (technical standards and specifications)
- Practical in-field experience in conveyor systems inspections, repair and component replacements
- Practical in-field experience with conveyor systems commissioning and operations
- A high level of business acumen with experience in contract management
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
