About the Role
Future Planning is a multi-year program focused on improving BHP’s approach to mine planning and delivering more predictable outcomes. The program introduces innovative planning methods across the value chain and time horizons.
Enterprise Mining Probabilistics (EMP), one of three workstreams within Future Planning, applies probabilistic planning and project management to manage variability and improve performance. This approach supports predictable delivery and continuous improvement within our mining systems.
In this role your responsibilities will be:
You will support the Future Planning EMP team in planning for, and be primarily responsible for, EMP Deployment activities at different assets within BHP portfolio (primarily focussed on BMA) in alignment with the agreed Definition of Done/ Acceptance Criteria to fulfil commitments described by Future Planning program and quarterly EMP workstream Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
You will be required to provide the advisory and coordination support to asset teams for delivering EMP Deployment activities.
The key phases of the Deployment relevant to this role are:
- Readiness: where you are required to understand the current state of asset/ site and any gaps/ opportunities to then create a deployment plan/ schedule that fits the asset / site and is documented in a Statement of Works (SoW).
- Deploy: whereby you support the site in the execution of the deployment schedule created in readiness phase.
- Transition to Operations: during this phase you will support the embedment of EMP into the site business as usual (BAU) teams, including localization of EMP ways of working.
In this role you will provide the deployment plan and work with the asset and site to customise this, your scope is:
- Play a central role for implementing the defined EMP Deployment activities for a specific scope area in alignment with the agreed Statement of Works.
- Define deployment specific content/detail as required, whilst making sure it aligns to the EMP blueprint and framework documents.
- Participate in EMP team routines using Agile Project Management Framework (APMF) practices, ensuring deliverables meet agreed objectives and criteria.
- Provide general team support internally within EMP across other Asset active Deployments, inclusive of continuous improvement efforts towards EMP artefacts, resources, and tools.
- Using the PDCA cycle, you will work with the Asset teams to improve execution of mine plans to deliver better C2P outcomes while integrating with asset/ site BOS practices.
About You
Essential:
- Background in mine planning for medium and short-term, having experience in the development of budget and ST (monthly, weekly, and daily) mine plans.
- On-site experience in working closely with execution and production teams.
- Stakeholder management inclusive of successfully influencing change in a challenging and complex environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, communicate, engage, and influence across diverse groups.
Preferred:
- Exposure to Critical Path Project Management and the application of Theory of Constraints in a project environment.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
- Experience in statistical and analytical tools.
- Familiarity with BMA operations and established relationships within the assets
Duration:
- 12 months secondment for internal candidates, and
- Fixed term (until end of FY27) for external candidates.
