About Mt Arthur Coal
Mt Arthur Coal is an open-cut coal mine 100 per cent owned by BHP. Located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales it's the largest producer of energy coal in the region, operating alongside olive growers, wine makers, horse breeders and the nearby residential community of Muswellbrook.

About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Environment, the Principal Environment is accountable for the governance and delivery of all components of the site environmental management system, delivering high quality environmental outcomes and implementing global BHP environment, climate and sustainability corporate commitments.
This role is a residential role located in the Upper Hunter Valley New South Wales (NSW). Flexible work options will be considered.
The role is offered on a 12 month fixed-term contract, and relocation assistance can be provided if required.
You will be required to:
• Prepared to live locally in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales (NSW) as the role is residential.
• Provide subject matter expertise into the design and establishment of environment standards, procedures and systems
• Ensure conformance with the BHP Global Standards and relevant legal obligations
• Implement and oversee global BHP Environment, Climate and Sustainability corporate commitments at the Mt Arthur Coal asset
• Implement and provide governance of the Environment Management System
• Support and deliver other environmental activities and initiatives as directed by the business
• Contribute and participate in business planning routines, such as scheduling, budgeting, improvement initiatives, and reviews
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant regulators and key site and function Superintendents
• Support and coach site Environment Specialists as required
About You
• Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or similar
• 5-10 years’ experience within the resources industry with a focus on systems and corporate governance
• Ability to engage and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders across all levels
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation with a focus on NSW legislation
• Experience in working collaboratively and constructively in multi-disciplinary teams
• Strong planning, organisational and time management skills
• Commitment to create a positive, inclusive, and enjoyable team culture
