About the role
- The role can be based in Australia (Perth, Adelaide or Brisbane), or Santiago (Chile) or Singapore.

The purpose of the External Affairs (EA) Operations team is to enable and amplify the impact of our EA team. The Principal EA Strategy, Planning & Integrity collaborates closely with EA teams to drive EA’s digital portfolio and strategy and support External Affairs with technology governance, digital enablement, and functional integrity. They play a key role in coordinating EA-wide strategy, planning and corporate processes, informed by horizon scanning and benchmarking; governing EA-wide systems and processes; and identifying EA-wide improvements.
Your responsibilities:
- Support technology, systems and data management governance and functional integrity requirements and processes (e.g. maintaining the Technology & Innovation Roadmap, governing the function’s Application Portfolio and technology requests, conducting prioritisation and optimisation, engaging with Technology teams and other stakeholders to track delivery and performance, manage software application portfolio, and administer EA-wide tools)
- Support development and coordination of planning and processes to ensure compliance with key corporate deliverables (including corporate alignment planning (CAP) process, EA-wide strategy, budget, cash prioritisation, Appraisal, benchmarking and routine performance reporting).
- Provides qualitative and quantitative analysis and data visualisation for planning, decision making and to communicate value of EA.
- Co-design and deliver improvement initiatives, including to core EA-wide processes, that remove hurdles to allow teams to focus on their core mandates.
- Coach and upskill External Affairs teams in digital enablement, governance, application ownership, project management, planning, continuous improvement, business case development and change management.
- Support EA with their use of technology, supporting the build of solutions, explaining what technology is available, and relevant use cases.
- Implement large-scale systems and manage tools and technology to ensure processes work for the people that use them the most. Stay abreast of emerging tech trends, to continuously evaluate and adapt our technology road map. Bring new and innovative systems and tools to External Affairs, drive and deliver innovation and the adoption of best practice across EA.
- Support teams to adopt technology and systems across EA, acting as Product Owner and Business Application Owner on function-wide technology projects.
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business Management or similar related discipline.
- 5-10+ years experience working in a global company, large multi-disciplined organisation or management consulting firm.
- Experience in formal project management qualifications.
- Understanding of core technology tools relevant to EA function, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365. Other programming language experience, and experience with analytics, RPA, AI and Machine Learning, particularly as they relate to EA are desirable.
- Advanced experience in IT governance, including application portfolio management.
- Experience in leading innovation, improvement and change – opportunity framing, process design and documentation, and organisational change management.
- Strong understanding of and interest in future trends, skills and innovation, the evolving digital landscape and best practice, and an ability to translate this knowledge into actionable strategy and implementation roadmap / plans.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all levels of the organisation. Ability to translate complex technical language and process concepts into clear messages for non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong financial management and analysis experience, the ability to wrangle complex data and transform it into business-critical insights.
- Understanding and/or previous exposure to External Affairs related fields
