Perth Office  
South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

About the Role:

This role is a Permanent full-time position, Monday to Friday. This role will preferably be based at our head office in Perth. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home)

The Principal Finance Marketing will support the Manager of Finance Marketing with internal financial accounting processes to meet monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly reporting requirements on time and following Group and International Accounting standards. You will also support the Group’s budgeting and forecasting process and ensure high-quality analysis and accurate reporting of the financial results while providing critical/material accounting advice for Marketing and maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.

Other key role responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development;
• Coach, mentor, and support the individual team members of the Marketing Finance team and support the Manager of Finance Marketing in driving ownership by each Analyst of the commodity accounting balances and outcomes;
• Coordinate and support the period-end close (PEC) process, budgets, and forecasts; preparation of statutory accounts for Marketing operations and provide support to Financial Analysts;
• Identify and implement process improvement and simplification initiatives across the team;
• Provide first-level accounting advice to the team and engage with the group on more technical and judgmental matters

About You:

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:  

• Understanding of financial accounting and management accounting concepts & processes and experience in risk management frameworks, accounting/finance/audit or related fields
• Proficient in the use of SAP, BI, and Cognos
• Experience in accounting/risk/finance/audit or related field is desirable
• Fluent English, both verbal and written
• Problem-solving – uses logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions
• Interacts positively with others and engages in a broad range of positive interpersonal interactions
• Capability to coach and support Financial Analysts in their day-to-day role and tasks

Qualifications for this position are:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
• CA / CPA or equivalent qualification
