Principal, First Nations People and Pathways

Location: Fortescue Centre & Bennett St

  • Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

Position Overview

Working within the First Nations team, this role will have responsibility for creation of opportunities and promoting inclusion of First Nations people through a range of targeted initiatives, programs and pathways. Working closely with stakeholders across Fortescue, the successful candidate will be a strategic thinker who brings their passion, excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage stakeholders, obtain buy-in and drive meaningful change.

Key responsibilities of this role:

•             Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and oversee a portfolio of programs and pathways promoting First Nations people’s participation and success across all levels of our business, in partnership with our First Nations communities.

•             Work closely with senior leaders to deliver a strategic approach to programs and pathways, including setting objectives, timelines and metrics for success aligned to Fortescue’s goals and values.

•             Work with First Nations communities and organisations to create pathways and support aligned to our partner’s aspirations and Fortescue’s goals.

•             Analyse and report to leaders on the effectiveness of programs, employing an improvement mindset to drive progress.

•             Serve as an advocate within the organisation, driving innovation to ensure Fortescue is an employer of choice for First Nations people.

As a successful candidate you will have the following:

•             Strategic thinker with the ability to align diversity initiatives with broader organisational goals.

•             Strong cultural competence, and a passion for promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.

•             Excellent communication skills, including engagement and collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders to communicate impact.

•             Proven track record in designing, implementing, and evaluating successful programs.
