About the Role
We are currently seeking expressions of interests from experienced Functional Safety engineers to work with the WAIO Asset GTS standards. Functional Safety (FS) is an emerging field in WAIO with many projects delivering Functional Safety scope in the near future. The work would include the following:
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to project teams on the implementation of FS systems;
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to site operations teams on the ongoing operation and maintenance of FS systems;
- Lead the completion/development and continuous improvement of standards to capture lessons learnt and create sustainable FS practices/designs;
- Governance activities (such as field leadership and design review) over FS designs and processes
- Support the ongoing development/maturity of FS in the business, including delivery of training;
- Work with external consultants to ensure the highest level of technical advice is provided to assets and projects for the design, management and operations of WAIO process plant;
- Provide deep technical risk management support to engineering activities across BHP Iron Ore as required; and
- Maintain a WAIO wide view of technical risks/solutions and support site and other engineers in management of these risks.
About You
In this highly specialised role, the successful candidate will lead a small team in the review risks associated with BHP Iron Ore's legacy plant. They will work in collaboration with and manage key relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Business and Asset Leadership Teams, Project Steering Committees, site maintenance and operations teams, technology teams and governance groups.
Skills and experience will include:
- Tertiary Engineering qualifications;
- Minimum TUV FS Engineer or Exida CFSP qualifications (expert level preferred);
- Sound technical understanding of typical WAIO process/machines (e.g. balanced machines or bulk ore materials handling systems);
- Extensive experience (across the entire FS lifecycle) in functional safety activities on complex machinery applications;
- Proactive team player with the ability to deal with both strategic and technical issues; and
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels and disciplines in the business.
