About the Role

Reporting to the Lead Principal of Global Accounting Policy, this role is critical to ensuring that consistent accounting advice and methods are used for complex accounting matters across the BHP Group.  The role provides an exciting opportunity to be a key member of a team that is often at the forefront of developments in global financial reporting and disclosure. The role provides exposure to a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation including Accounting teams, other Global functions, Group executive management, the Risk and Audit Committee, external regulators and auditors.  This role can be located in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane or Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities include •    providing timely and accurate accounting advice to support complex issues and transactions across the Group, including the preparation of the technical accounting papers where necessary •    supporting the regular reviews of developments in financial reporting requirements across the Group’s relevant jurisdictions, including the assessment of potential impacts to the Group, preparation of position papers and drafting of response/comment letters where appropriate •    participating in the periodic updates to the Group’s accounting policies •    establishing, maintaining and leveraging mutually beneficial and responsive stakeholder relationships with accounting teams, senior management and the external auditors.

About You

•    Significant experience of working in the accounting policy / technical team in a large accounting professional services firm or within a large, complex and global organisation. •    Superior professional ethics, communication, facilitation, influencing and interpersonal skills, essential to building constructive relationships and credibility with diverse stakeholders and cross functional teams. •    Influencing  skills in a fast paced global multi-cultural environments. •    CA / CPA qualified (or equivalent professional accounting designation).
