Principal Global Permits and Approvals
Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
Roster: Monday – Friday
Fortescue is committed to ending climate change and is building a global renewable energy business, while decarbonising existing operations. Building the business will require us to achieve internal and external approvals that meet local, state, national and international standards.
The Principal of Global Approvals and Permits will be responsible for building the business systems to support our international portfolio with permitting and regulatory advice, on approvals strategies and guiding the business to develop an approvals management systems.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Support regional, project and exploration teams to develop early-stage approvals strategies.
- Work collaboratively with environmental, social and land teams to identify approvals risks, and develop project workplans and schedules.
- Support the business to identify, a Fortescue fit for purpose approvals information system
- Development and implementation business systems to actively manage compliance risk, including identification, planning, tracking and reporting of regulatory approvals/compliance activities.
- Development of corporate approvals standards, policies, and guidelines to position Fortescue for approvals assurance through the global reach of the business
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure efficient delivery of work and internal alignment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 10+ years’ experience in a permitting and regulatory compliance role within the resources sector, energy industry or equivalent
- Tertiary qualification or experience within the renewables/resource industry
- Significant experience with development of business systems and solutions architecture to support international approvals assurance.
- Proven experience with auditing and compliance of international large-scale projects
- Significant experience and subject matter expertise in the identification, procurement, and management of regulatory approvals in the renewable/resource industry for large-scale projects
- Major international project or exploration permitting and approvals experience.
- Demonstrates strong communication and negotiation skills to influence internal and external stakeholders.
