About the Role

We are seeking a Principal HR Business Partner, who is looking for an opportunity to make a difference through influencing and partnering with the business to achieve results. This role will work in a dynamic team supporting BHP’s Copper South Australian  Operations.

The role provides advice to Senior Leaders and the General Manager on effective people processes to influence the culture and performance of our business. You will help to shape the people strategy for the operation to ensure we have the right talent, capability and culture to support exceptional performance.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to guide and support the operations Senior Leaders through change as the operation integrates into the BHP ways of working.

Reporting to Head of HR Business Partnership Copper South Australia, your accountability will include:

  • Lead HR projects, supporting the operation in meeting its strategic objectives.
  • Work as one team with the HR Business Partners across the SA Copper Asset on HR initiatives to ensure synergies are achieved across the operations.
  • Coach Leaders in cultural advancement, capability uplift, talent, leadership development and managing through change. 
  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives that contribute to the culture and productivity imperative. 
  • Provide guidance on HR strategy and context to enable and embed transformation. 
  • Play a key role in strategically business partnering senior leaders during business planning processes and the development of Strategic Workforce Plans.

About You

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • A broad HR experience, with exposure to working with and coaching across all levels of an organisation.
  • As a strategic thinker, you will have experience working within a complex organisation and be passionate about supporting Leaders in creating an empowered high performing culture. 
  • You will be innovative in your thinking to enable the future direction of our organisation and the future work of our employees.
  • You are collaborative and seek to build strong partnerships across the HR team.
  • It is important that you are down to earth, resilient, agile to change, have an eye for detail and are results driven.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support credibility, influence and interact with a variety of stakeholders. 
  • Formal qualification in a Business/HR/Psychology related discipline with experience from a diverse range of industries is preferred but not essential.

Location and Roster

This role is based in Adelaide on a Monday to Friday roster and offers flexible work arrangements, hybrid between office and working from anywhere with occasional visits to our Copper SA sites to build relationships a deliver packages of work. Adelaide offers a Mediterranean climate, beach-side lifestyle, cosmopolitan cafés and restaurants and world-class wine regions just an hour away.  All this plus annual international festivals and a robust events calendar makes Adelaide a vibrant, cultured, friendly environment to live, work and play in.
