About the Role
The Principal Payroll Compliance will be part of a team in Global Business Services (GBS) who will partner with our external payroll administrator to ensure that BHP’s payroll risk and compliance meets regulatory requirements.
- Lead the activities required to deliver on our BHP global payroll governance and compliance framework.
- Work with a team to manage our global year-end payroll reporting to ensure that our reporting is complete, accurate and submitted on-time.
- Apply an understanding of global payroll regulations to plan and execute payroll compliance reviews and audits, enabling BHP to meet our payroll obligations, as defined by country regulations, our policies and lab our/enterprise agreements.
- Engage directly with regulatory authorities in relation to BHP’s payroll compliance and regulatory obligations.
- Project manage to deliver on payroll related change projects.
- Identify and assess risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
- Support and influence a culture of compliance through training and advice regarding compliance-related risks, controls, and regulatory obligations across our external payroll vendor and relevant internal stakeholders.
- Drive the development of payroll regulatory knowledge across our payroll teams to maximize payroll compliance.
- Excel at coaching and mentoring team members, focused on their personal development and wellbeing.
About You
- Deep technical global payroll regulatory and tax compliance (related to payroll) knowledge.
- Extensive experience in SAP payroll applications and SpinifexIT Easy Reporter.
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance and risk and be able to prioritize execution and improvement based on both value and risk.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and execute projects as well as drive remediation and improvement initiatives to completion.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, being able to work collaboratively across all internal and external teams, including our payroll administrator and other external vendors, as required, to continually improve operational performance, capability and context building within their delivery.
- Ability to think conceptually, analyze, problem solve and drive practical solutions.
- Attention to detail, good analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills.
