About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Minerals Australia Projects HSE team in the role of Principal HSE supporting WA Asset Projects Delivery Portfolio. Reporting to the Superintendent HSE WA Asset Projects, this role will provide Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) functional support for the project execution teams on site. This role will require regular travel to various sites across Iron Ore. This role will offer exceptional career challenge and development working with our senior stakeholders and leadership teams, supporting projects with value-add HSE guidance and inputs to enable exceptional project HSE performance.
Asset Projects range between $20M to $250M, across a broad range of exciting areas supporting BHP growth, sustainability, closure, and social value improvements. Your role as a Principal HSE will provide leadership, coaching, and strategic direction as a subject matter expert to key stakeholders across multiple projects in the portfolio.
The role is a permanent Perth based role with regular site travel (FIFO – Pilbara).
In this role you will:
- Provide HSE input to the design and establishment of HSE standards, procedures and systems for Projects within the Minerals Australia Projects Framework and Internal Standard.
- Coach Field Leadership activities, offer support and technical guidance to build a safety leadership culture and enhance understanding of compliance relevant to company and legal requirements.
- Coach line management on the quality and effectiveness of HSE risk assessments, event investigations and corrective actions.
- Manage HSE Systems and data quality related to Iron Ore and Nickel West Projects including the undertaking analytics activities for HSE data including benchmarking, developing key performance metrics and insight development.
- Support leadership in building an understanding of, and compliance with, relevant HSE Our Requirements (GLD) and legal requirements.
- Provide leadership, support and technical guidance to Project teams and contracting partners.
- Develop and deliver HSE content for upskilling of project owner’s teams and contracting partners.
- Manage, control, monitor and participate in the execution of work that is the accountability of the HSE Function.
- Review and monitor contractor HSE performance and delivery to the project HSE Management Plans.
About You
A proven passion for HSE and a culture of care and ability to influence leadership.
- Have strong communication and engagement skills, ability to adapt to suit target audience.
- Experience working with projects and studies is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to reliably deliver team results and meet deadlines.
- Confidence to identify and lead change through vision setting, empowerment, drive and effective execution of change management processes.
- Ability to engage build trustful relationships and work effectively with both senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Influence diverse teams to deliver sustainable business outcomes.
- Ability to effectively engage and manage contractors. Capacity to establish, review, critically analyses and challenge contractor HSE performance.
