About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the HSE Functional Services team in the role of Principal HSE supporting WA Major Projects. Reporting to the Superintendent HSE WA Major Projects, this role will provide Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) functional support for the Western Ridge Crusher Project.
The Project is situated at our Newman Operations (Whaleback) and will deliver the construction of a 30Mtpa primary crusher and overland conveyor (OLC) to deliver 29Mtpa of ore to the existing Whaleback processing infrastructure. There’s an expectation that the incumbent will be highly independent and embedded within the Project team and work along with Project Delivery Managers to deliver HSE outcomes in an integrated Business Partnership model.
The role is a 12 month fixed term opportunity and will require weekly site travel. Preferred roster is Mon-Fri 5/2 4/3 but is flexible for the right candidate.
In this role you will:
- Build capability within WA Major Project’s leaders to enable them to create the desired HSE culture and enact their HSE risk management and compliance requirements.
- Ensure provision of technical expertise and deliverables of environment, health, hygiene and safety requirements for the Project.
- Deliver coaching for line management on the quality and effectiveness of HSE risk assessments, Field Leadership, event investigations and corrective actions.
- Work closely with the project delivery team and contracting partners to ensure all defined HSE requirements are clearly understood, embedded into project documentation and implemented during the delivery of scope.
- Support with the embedment of the BHP field leadership program throughout the Project inclusive of contracting partners.
- Develop and deliver relevant HSE content for upskilling of project owner’s teams and contractor personnel.
- Facilitate the communication between workgroups to ensure consistency in HSE systems, processes, procedures and goals.
- Support the completion of all Project HSE reporting requirements as required.
- Support and conduct HSE assurance and verification activities as per defined project schedule.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Health and Safety, Risk Management or a related field
- A proven passion and enthusiasm for HSE and building a culture of care, with the ability to influence different levels of leadership.
- Strong, adaptable and collaborative communication and engagement style.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver team results and meet deadlines through effective time management.
- Ability to identify and lead change through vision setting, empowerment and effective execution of the change management process.
- Experience influencing and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively engage and collaborate with contractors to build capability and maintain HSE standards and performance.
