About the role 

One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. This role is a FIFO role out of Adelaide supporting a large scale tailings facility project at the Carrapateena Mine

Reporting to the Manager HSS CCAP, this role will provide Health, Safety, and Security functional support for the Copper Coal Asset Project Teams, focusing on enabling our people to build and promote a proactive safety culture. The role is offered on a fixed term 12-month contract, providing leadership, direction and expert advice to the Carrapateena Project leadership team and key stakeholders on all health, safety, and security matters. The role will focus on HSS prevention through design in all phases of the Minerals Australia Project Management Framework. This will include analysis of health & safety performance data to identify improvement opportunities, management of HSS related studies, and supporting project managers in the execution of asset level projects.  

In this role you will:

  • Give HSS input to the design and establishment of HSS standards, procedures and systems for Copper Coal Asset Projects within the Minerals Australia Projects Framework and Internal Standard
  • Provide technical and strategic support to build a strong safety leadership culture and enhanced understanding of compliance relevant to company and legal requirements
  • Coach line management on the quality and effectiveness of HSS risk assessments, Field Leadership activities, event investigations and corrective actions to support an improvement in managing our risk profile
  • Manage HSS Systems and data quality related to Copper Coal Asset Projects including the undertaking HSS analytics including benchmarking, developing key performance metrics and continuous improvement plans
  • Support leadership in building an understanding of, and compliance with, relevant HSS Our Requirements (GLD) and legal requirements
  • Provide leadership, support and technical guidance to Project teams and contracting partners
  • Develop and deliver HSS content for upskilling of project owner’s teams and contracting partners
  • Review and monitor contractor HSS performance and delivery to project HSS Management Plans
  • Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable  you to work safely and effectively every day
  • Develop suitable HSS strategy, review, and update and maintain existing system documentation
  • Management of HSS Systems and data quality control related to asset projects
  • Undertaking analytics activities for HSS data including benchmarking, developing key performance metrics and insight development 
  • Provide feedback to HSS Analysis and Improvement on the design and establishment of HSS standards, procedures and systems for asset projects 
  • Support legislative compliance for Safety Execution service provision. Facilitate communication between workgroups to ensure consistency in systems, processes, procedures and goals
  • Manage, control, monitor and participate in the execution of work that is the accountability of the HSS function
  • Coordination of reports for internal distribution and submission to regulatory agencies

  • Strong understanding of South Australian work health and safety legislation
