About the Role
The Human Resources (HR) Governance and Risk function is accountable for driving the 5-year HR digital roadmap and technology strategy. The function engages with senior leadership across HR, Global Business Services (GBS) and Technology to align and drive a digital strategy aligned to broader business objectives.
A new and exciting opportunity for a Principal HR Technology Strategy is available in either Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne or Perth.
The Principal role will play a key part in developing BHP's strategy by maintaining a wide network of impact, bringing together stakeholders from across all facets of the business to agree on matters that meet both functional and operational needs.
Key accountabilities include:
- Connects external HR digital best practice insights into 5 year strategy, driving high performance
- Governs submission of cash prioritisation each year for HR (function and GBS) to ensure execution of capital funded programs of work are aligned with longer term strategy
- Translates corporate objectives into 5 year strategy, and then actionable plans (in conjunction with other functional teams), communicating, managing and analysing the implementation of those plans, and reporting back on their progress to facilitate the delivery of our strategy
- Governs execution of programs within the digital roadmap across the different teams, ensuring progress against overall strategy is occurring
- Acts as the functional integration point for GBS executed programs to ensure relevant governance and oversight
- Engages with technology to ensure clear alignment between function and technology regarding digital strategy
- Identifies, engages and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Conducts presentations and facilitates workshops using storytelling to connect, influence and engage the audience.
To cater for applicable notice periods and any festive season plans, we are seeking the successful candidate to commence in early February 2024.

About You
You will be an outgoing and charismatic professional who thrives in a customer-oriented environment,
With strong business acumen, you will have the ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity and be comfortable in managing change.
Demonstrated experience in the resources industry and/or experience working in a matrix organisation is desirable and previous experience with HR system implementation projects (ServiceNow) will be advantageous.
More formal expectations of the role include:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management or human resources (preferred)
- Polished communication skills and experience in engaging with senior stakeholders
- Previous experience in working with HR technology suites.
