About the Role

The Asset improvement project team partners with Olympic dam to identify and deliver high value improvement projects. We are currently seeking a Principal – Improvement Projects will work across the different areas and functions of the Olympic dam, reporting to the Manager - Improvement Projects. The Principal – Improvement Projects for the Olympic Dam Asset will:

  • Build a collaborative relationship with the site’s continuous improvement and operations teams.
  • Identify improvement opportunities through site team’s insights and data analysis.
  • Facilitate problem solving sessions and other workshops with various teams across the asset to develop practical and sustainable solutions to problems with an emphasis on reduction in waste
  • Facilitate good project management practices to ensure value is delivered
  • Regularly report outcomes to internal stakeholders.

The role location is based in Adelaide with regular (normally weekly) travel to the Olympic Dam.

About You

You will have several years’ experience working in a continuous improvement environment, together with a minimum of 5 years’ operational experience in mining, metals or similar manufacturing industry. You must be able to work collaboratively, managing stakeholders and understand the business and customers needs. For this role you will need good influencing skills and enable individuals to ask probing questions and challenge the status quo in an engaging manner. You need to be energetic and results-oriented, work well under pressure and are comfortable with ambiguity.

You must have a proven technical ability, perform and review data analysis, be an analytical thinker and have the ability to provide timely delivery of critical improvement projects. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.  

Requirements   Minimum requirements that this candidate will bring are: 

  • Significant professional experience in a process driven industry (minimum 5 years) as well as working in Continuous improvement, performance reporting or operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivery of high value (>$2M) improvement projects that require analysis and problem solving to deliver the optimum solution. 
  • Able to locate data within BHP systems and have the ability to manipulate the data, perform analysis and determine relationships within the data that can be used for improvement. 
  • Be able to relate and influence stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a high performing culture, and work with diverse teams across the asset and have the disciplines to deliver high performance outcomes.
  • Continuous improvement and outcomes focused with an expertise utilising lean (BHP operating system) principles and techniques to deliver value.
  • Experience in resources / mining / metals or similar type manufacturing industries.
