About the Role

BHP’s Performance and Improvement (P&I) Value Analytics is the coming together of a dedicated, innovative group focused on maximizing value-adding opportunities across BHP by leveraging skills in the Technical Function to deliver incremental, step change and innovative solutions.  

Reporting to the Manager Process Analytics, you will contribute to delivering performance improvement projects that focus on maximizing value opportunities and performance across the value chain, through the application of analytics, operational and engineering expertise.  You will be part of a global team, working collaboratively alongside other performance and improvement individuals, operations and business subject matter experts, and data analytics professionals.  

This is a fixed-term or permanent role working Monday to Friday based in Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide. Flexible working options are available.

In this role, you will:

  • Be an Agile Product Owner, who will scope and lead initiatives to deliver measurable value to the business through analysis, modelling and identification of improvement opportunities across BHP value chains.
  • Provides technical expertise and mining operational knowledge to enable the team to solve complex problems.
  • Analyses key performance drivers and determine the boundaries of an opportunity.
  • Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
  • Sources information, plans and guides analyses to support evidence-based decision making.
  • Synthesizes analytical results to generate insights and communicates narratives in an impactful and engaging way.
  • Engages the capabilities of the entire organization.

About You

The successful candidate will be able to work within a team environment, and will possess strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset and a focus on delivering value.  In addition to a demonstrated ability to consolidate and analyze information, you will have mining operational knowledge and skills to provide critical thinking, clear decision-making and have a solution-focused attitude. 

  • Understand value chain business drivers with experience in improvement and analyzing process capabilities.
  • Experience in scoping and engaging with stakeholders on complex processes to accurately define the problem statement, and develop project plans and roadmaps.
  • Strong project management, communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management with demonstrated practical problem solving, and well-developed analytical, interpretive and constructive thinking skills.
  • Ability to work with a clear view of customer needs and measuring success through stretch goals and metrics, while adapting to changing conditions and context.
  • Setting and maintaining expected standards and processes to drive quality and set the foundation for improvement, and remove obstacles preventing successful change.
  • Engineering consultancy or management consultancy experience will be highly regarded.
  • Tertiary education in engineering or a closely related field is required.  Operational mining experience and knowledge of mine planning is highly desirable.
