About the Role
The Indigenous Employment team is a dynamic team focused on creating sustainable employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia. It is responsible for providing Indigenous employment expertise to our operations, through the delivery of our strategic initiatives. This includes a number of programs and initiatives that are critical in creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees can thrive.
The Indigenous Employment team is a national team whose success is built on flexible work, diversity and individuality. The team lead critical projects that create a culturally safe and respectful workforce. A key project of the team is the establishment of a Cultural Safety Review. As the Principal Indigenous Employment your role will be to specifically lead the BHP Cultural Safety Review. You will be required to manage and coordinate packages of works arising from the contractual requirements. Engaging with key stakeholders as a single point of contact for questions, risks and issues relating to the Cultural Safety Review.
You will be required to coach, influence and provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander technical expertise to improve cultural capability and foster a more inclusive workplace as well as having a sound knowledge for improving organisational systems and processes.
The role will be based in Perth or Brisbane. This role is only open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. Please be advised this role will be offered a 12 month fixed term contract.
About You
To be successful in the Principal Indigenous Employment role you will have a genuine desire in improving the wellbeing of our Indigenous workforce, including increasing the cultural capability of the business.
Ideally, you will have experience in managing Indigenous projects, employment or human resources management with a demonstrated understanding of successful programs that lead to improving Indigenous wellbeing outcomes.
Your previous experience will mean that you have the ability to develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholders, with excellent engagement skills. You will be committed to coaching, influencing, and enabling others.
You will be able to work as part of a team but also be comfortable working autonomously when required and make informed decisions. You will be motivated by a fast-paced environment and the opportunity to problem solve and drive positive change.
