About Nickel West

Nickel West is a fully integrated mine-to-market business. Our culture is rich with technical know-how, highly efficient and focused on innovation. The business employs over 2500 people from five operations across Western Australia comprising of nickel underground and open-cut mines, concentrators, a smelter and a refinery. About the Role

The Principal Indigenous Programs provides technical expertise in the management of the Asset strategy, framework and implementation required to protect and enhance BHP’s reputation, to manage risk and to contribute to social value creation. The role will entail:

  • Maintaining strong relationships with Traditional Owner groups
  • Managing BHP’s compliance to and governance of our agreements with our Traditional Owners
  • Maintaining the relationship we have with the progressive Aboriginal Corporation and ensuring its continued prosperity
  • Participating in activities across the state, including ethnobotanical excursions, ranger programs, and in-field engagements  
  • Plans, tracks the delivery of and manages a projects to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes 
  • Conducts presentations and facilitates workshops using storytelling to connect, influence and engage the audience
  • Gains support for and negotiates outcomes that achieve mutually beneficial goals
  • Implements opportunities and best practices to maximise value, add opportunities, mitigate risks, and improve ways of working with stakeholders
  • Regularly engages with stakeholders to ensure the solution meets requirements, monitoring and escalating variances in project performance, schedule and cost as required.

About You

  • Project Management experience within a similar environment and industry
  • Presentation and facilitation skills and experience, with the ability to adapt and connect messages to the audience’s motivations and drivers
  • Well-developed negotiation and influencing skills and experience to achieve a desirable outcome
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather, interpret and analyse information, to take an evidence based approach in decision making
  • Has a strong desire and experience in creating a culture of inclusion and diversity
  • Ability to establish effective plans and priority to meet business and customer needs
