About the Role
Reporting into the Lead Principal – Innovation Delivery Minerals Australia, this role is part of a team that is a true organizational catalyst on the cusp of leading us into the future to fulfil our commitments and shape new aspirations; ultimately making us a more innovative, productive, safer, and more sustainable enterprise.
This team will deeply partner with our Assets, Exploration and other Functional teams to future-proof the Mining Industry through alignment of emerging technologies to solve for Asset challenges and to unlock the resources of tomorrow. The team enables the successful deployment and scaling of demonstration projects on site, in collaboration with our asset teams to drive value realisation, enabling BHP to innovate for today and reimagine the Mining operating model of the future.
As Principal Innovation Delivery – Minerals Australia, you will form part of a small business partnering team working in close partnership with our assets and the broader BHP business, including other innovation sub-teams, deeply integrating across all levels of the organisation, providing the necessary support, and project facilitation, to streamline the implementation of innovation pilots on site. You will also act as the key interface between the broader BHP business and the innovation team, to inform the innovation team about the priority focus areas it should pursue in support of the business.
Accountabilities with the biggest impact:
- Creates and maintains a pipeline view of Innovation activity happening within Assets over an 18 to 24-month time horizon to inform testing, pilot, and deployment plans.
- Coordinates the preparation of core samples for testing.
- Formalises onsite testing and pilot arrangements with Assets.
- Drives key processes and forums between the Product team, Assets, and key BHP stakeholders.
- Captures and consolidates testing outcomes for communication back to the Product sub-team to inform product refinement.
- Develops business cases and testing plans for initiative demonstration and deployment.
- Provides ongoing coordination and facilitation of support between the Product function, collaboration partners and Assets to ensure operational readiness and enables the successful transition of initiatives for deployment and scaling.
About You
As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
- Proven ability to support implementation of innovation pilots successfully and rapidly into core business areas.
- Experience working with operational Assets in Mining, ideally experience working on Brownfield expansion projects.
- A deep understanding of a day in the life of our partners in the Assets, with an appreciation of the competing priorities and tensions which may impact the priority given to innovative trials, and the capability to successfully navigate those competing priorities.
- Proven ability to apply technical Mining knowledge into coordination of solution testing pilots onsite.
- Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with technical experts.
- Relevant project management experience.
Required
- Graduate degree preferably in engineering or related fields.
Location and Roster
This role can be base in our Australia BHP Corporate offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, or Perth. Site visits & travel as required. You will be working on Monday-Friday roster. Flexible work is also offered.
