The Opportunity

Reporting to the Practice Lead Group Decarbonisation, the purpose of this role is to manage the Innovate32 Low Footprint Innovation Mission, to address and mitigate strategic sustainability business risks through innovative solutions and technology. 

Accountabilities 

Primary responsibilities are to:

  • Manage the sustainability-focused Low Footprint Mission within South32’s internal innovation team, Innovate32, and act as the interface for innovation within sustainability and environment
  • Drive the identification and evaluation of innovative solutions required to achieve our sustainability goals across decarbonisation, biodiversity, water and waste.
  • Drive implementation of decarbonisation innovation under direction of Practice Lead Group Decarbonisation
  • Drive implementation of biodiversity innovation under direction of Principal Biodiversity Strategy
  • Support implementation of the circular economy strategy and innovation under direction of the Principal Circular Economy Strategy
  • Develop, implement and monitor Low Footprint Mission portfolio and budget
  • Contributing more broadly to group decarbonisation and Sustainability Strategy team objectives as required.

About you

  • Hold a Batchelor’s Degree or similar
  • Strong understanding of decarbonisation, energy transition and their interface with corporate strategy
  • Strong understanding of commercial and technical sustainability fundamentals
  • A proven track record of successful industry and government stakeholder engagement
  • Experience in complex stakeholder management and coordination
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships

Location

This role will be based at our corporate office in the heart of Perth CBD with stunning river views.
