Principal Management Accountant - Projects

Work Location: Fortescue Centre. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

This is a key role within the Projects Commercial team to provide business partnering to the Company’s key large scale project teams with a focus on governance, reporting and financial/accounting support and a key linkage between the Finance and Project teams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, coordination and execution of month end processes and preparation of the Projects monthly report distributed to the Senior Executive team.
  • Coordination and submission of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Maintain and manage the governance and verification framework.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key Project team personnel and support functions including Project Controls, LCP, HR, and Corporate finance teams.
  • Perform analysis and provide insights on project forecasts.
  • Manage Project WBS codes including reconciliations between CMS/PIMS Cost and SAP.
  • Manage cost centres and the cost allocation process.
  • Assist with the capitalisation of project assets upon completion.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 8+ years experience in commercial and / or accounting finance roles
  • CA or CPA qualifications
  • Strong financial acumen / broad understanding of governance principles / financial reporting knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of operations and senior management
  • Excellent analytical abilities
  • Effective in leading and managing change
  • Ability to work independently
  • SAP (finance), Anaplan, Workiva systems experience preferred
