ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a permanent full-time position based at the Dendrobium mine, which is near the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW and approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Sydney or alternatively based at the Appin mine which is, near the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW.
The role of Principal Medium Term Planning will be responsible for South32’s execution of the Medium Term Planning process at their Illawarra Metallurgical Coal operation. Your primary focus is to develop an annual Medium Term Plan that translates the Life of Operations Plan (LoOP) preferred pathway into an actionable plan that enables the long-term vision and value for the Operation. In addition, the Medium Term Planner will monitor the plan's performance and ensure key elements are integrated across key functional and operational processes.
Reporting to the Manager Medium Term Planning, the key responsibilities are, but not limited to:
Develop the Operation’s Medium Term Plan
- Responsible for developing an annual Medium Term Plan for the applicable Operation by executing and/or coordinating the Operation’s Medium Term Planning process
- Responsible for developing a forward work plan/schedule of activities that are required to deliver the Operations Development Path
Monitor & Improve Plan Performance
- Responsible for executing the Monitor and Improve Plan Performance process for the applicable Operation.
- Responsible for communicating/reporting the outcomes of executing the Monitor and Improve Plan performance process
Process Integration
- Ensure key outputs of the Medium Term Planning process are aligned with and/or cascade into the short-term planning process
- Ensure key outputs of the Medium Term Planning process are aligned and/or aim to achieve the Operation’s Life of Operations Plan
- Ensure the Medium Term Plan is aligned to key Operational and Functional processes
Operational Planning Requirements
- Support the execution and/or co-ordination of planning processes that are key to the success of the Operation’s Medium Term Plan (e.g. Asset Management, Capital Planning, Water Planning etc)
ABOUT YOU
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience demonstrating operational, technical, and financial capability. Experience in mine, business and/or operations planning will be highly regarded
- Proven capability to work strategically
- Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster alignment and collaboration between Operations and Functions
- Relationship-building skills: demonstrated empathy, emotional intelligence, and cross-cultural effectiveness with the ability to achieve consensus and build alignment cooperatively
- Experience in the preparation of reports and technical documents
Qualifications for this position are:
- Degree in Geology, Mine Engineering, or Commerce (e.g. Finance, Management) will be highly regarded
