About the Role

Future Planning is a multi-year program focused on improving BHP’s approach to mine planning and delivering more predictable outcomes. The program introduces innovative planning methods across the value chain and time horizons.

Enterprise Mining Probabilistics (EMP), one of three workstreams within Future Planning, applies probabilistic planning and project management to manage variability and improve performance. This approach supports predictable delivery and continuous improvement within our mining systems.

In this role, you will:

  • Play a central role in driving and delivering EMP Deployment activities across a phased deployment strategy.
  • Engage and partner with our customers in Australia across leadership, mine planning and operations groups to define and deliver EMP Deployment activities spanning FY27. Site travel will be required.
  • Apply probabilistic methods, variability management, and systems thinking within traditional mine planning and operational management practices.
  • Participate in EMP team routines using Agile Project Management Framework (APMF) practices, ensuring deliverables meet agreed objectives and criteria.
  • Provide general team support internally within Future Planning inclusive of continuous improvement efforts towards EMP artefacts, resources and tools.

About You

Essential:

  • Experience with mine planning and scheduling software.
  • Background in mine planning and scheduling. Experience in operational supervision would be well regarded.
  • Mining Engineering experience or technical expertise across engineering disciplines (mining, maintenance, improvement).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, communicate, engage and influence across diverse groups.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of systems thinking and Theory of Constraints in mining (e.g., Value Chain Excellence).
  • Exposure to probabilistic or stochastic scheduling practice & concepts is an advantage.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to different audiences.
