We are looking for a Principal Mining Engineer to lead to the Mine Technical Services - Mine Planning Team (West hub). Responsible for the delivery of the Life of Mine and Five Year mine plans, providing mining engineering inputs for development and closure studies, all mine design requirements and technical documentation for Ore Reserve estimates.

This role is a great opportunity for a Principal Mining Engineer who will motivate and guide a professional team to achieve business objectives. Reporting to the Manager Mine Engineering in Mine Technical Services, you will:
- Put people at the heart of the organisation
- Lead in a way that puts the safety and wellbeing of employees, stakeholders and the environment first
- Lead a team providing Life of Mine and Five Year mine plans, pit & dump designs and closure & rehabilitation input
- Be responsible for the mine engineering inputs for order of magnitude, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies
- Shape the strategic direction of the business through mine planning
- Be the Competent Person for Ore Reserve estimation for the hub, leveraging your prior experience and detailed understanding of the regulatory environment
- Provide technical mine planning support, mentoring and coaching to the Mine Engineering team, site mine planning teams and mine engineering graduates
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards relating to mine planning deliverables
- Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders across the value chain to deliver business strategy and objectives
What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- A Bachelor of Engineering specialising in Mining
- Post graduate qualifications in financial and/or commercial are highly desirable
- Extensive mining industry with experience including leading technical teams in mine engineering
- AusIMM membership or that of another recognised professional organisation
- Strong communication and project management skills
- Experience with mining development studies, including an ability to define scope, a strong understanding of the objectives of different levels of study, and an ability to effectively identify levers available to generate value in a mining project
- Highly developed skills in leadership, organisation, communication, problem solving and negotiation
- “C” class Drivers Licence
