About the Role

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide technical payroll advice to support the delivery of our project improvement projects. 
  • Provide leadership and be a payroll subject matter expert to a payroll project workstream to ensure delivery aligned to the key objectives of that workstream.
  • Identify, analyse and evaluate payroll compliance and risks and the impact they may have on the improvement projects.
  • Use functional expertise to guide the team in ensuring improvements / solutions are resolving root causes. 
  • Provide strategic guidance to the team to ensure that improvements / solutions align with other payroll solutions as well as the broader HR roadmap.
  • Proactive, pragmatic problem solving to ensure deadlines are met and that initiatives move forward at pace.
  • Identification and engagement with key stakeholders impacted by the changes you are delivering. 
  • Strong ability to persuade, influence and negotiate with stakeholders in order to implement payroll improvements.
  • Risk identification and resolution, proactive, pragmatic problem solving to ensure deadlines are met and that initiatives move forward at pace.
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with people located globally, both within BHP and externally (e.g. consultants, service providers, vendors etc.)
  • Engage with GBS HR leadership, Project Leadership, HR, Dev Ops, Functional Integrity and Accenture, from Specialists to Managers to drive the payroll project improvement agenda.
  • Translate business requirements, balancing asset-specific needs with the HRIS Landscape and HR process simplification agenda.

About You

  • Have a strong understanding of HR tools, processes and systems, including SAP payroll experience.
  • Have deep technical knowledge of Australian and global payroll operations and regulations.
  • Experienced in interpreting and implementing Enterprise / Labour Agreements.
  • You’re comfortable to take the lead, proactively seek clarity and drive for outcomes when things are unclear.
  • Ability to manage others, utilizing a diverse set of skills and experiences to achieve the objective.
  • Can think strategically (see the big picture and connect dots) but also able to keep things simple and you're comfortable to work in detail where required.
  • Ability to identify and understand different stakeholders and their needs, influence others and work collaboratively to get aligned outcomes.
  • You can build strong personal connections and good working relationships and use these effectively.
  • Inquisitive in nature, strong attention to detail and determination to deliver.
  • Experience in HR operations, large scale payroll transformations.
  • Ability to identify and assess risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.  
  • Ability to think conceptually, analyse, problem solve and drive practical solutions.
  • Attention to detail, good analytical, investigative and problem solving skills.
