About the Role
As a Principal Performance & Projects, your main purpose is to build bespoke infrastructure, capabilities, tools and processes to drive high performance edge across the whole of BHP at all levels, and support other targeted projects relating to talent and performance. Reporting to Manager Performance, EVP & Projects, your core accountabilities include:
- Lead research and benchmarking to understand world class performance uplift and differentiation solutions for global organisations and use to design (with leadership guidance)
- Develop with the guidance of the Manager Performance, EVP and Projects, and VP Talent and Performance a global performance strategy that can be disaggregated into BHP’s key employee segments (e.g., BHP’s most critical roles, leadership, new starters) to create a performance edge in critical sites and functions where some localisation within guardrails may be required.
- Uplift BHP’s performance through mechanisms that are experience-led and help leaders with individuals set stretching KPIs, clarify expectations of high performance, and differentiate performance outcomes. This will include not only process and infrastructure build, but also interventions to build capability, mindsets and behaviors, and will critically involve working collaboratively with other HR SMEs (e.g., Reward, ER, EVP, Experience). Deliver those interventions through HRBPs (and leaders, teams, individuals they support) and govern and improve the effectiveness of performance interventions.
- Deliver performance insights to HRBPs, leaders, the talent, OD, culture and analytics team to inform talent identification, career planning, succession planning, org development and culture interventions.
- Support Manager Performance, EVP and Projects and VP Talent and Performance to identify, priorities and lead high priority Talent, Reward, TA projects that emerge to broaden capability and increase cohesion among T&P solutions.
About You
As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
- Problem solving and strategic, innovative, expansive thinker who is comfortable creating thought leadership, and working in ambiguity and a fast-paced environment.
- Setting the pace, priorities and dynamic investment of time to meet business needs for performance uplift and other talent and performance outcomes.
- Have developed an end-to-end (or facets of an) a performance enhancement program before, or other related strategic interventions to deliver optimal business outcomes through performance.
- Well versed and experienced in cut-through research, thought leadership development and benchmarking against other organisations to ensure BHP has world class and purpose-fit performance enhancement and performance differentiation solutions.
- Experience designing bespoke change programs - through understanding of current capabilities, mindsets, behaviours - for pragmatic execution through leaders and the HR community. This may involve bespoke solutions for different employee segments of BHP.
- Senior stakeholder relationship building capabilities and written and oral communication skills to support credibility and influence at senior levels.
- Tertiary qualification in business, strategy, economics, human resources, or organisational psychology.
