The Opportunity – Permanent, Full Time Position

The newly created position of Principal Performance & Stewardship will be responsible for the design and execution of the Planning Stewardship Program, while also facilitating the South32 Operating System (OS) within the Planning team.

Working closely with the broader South32 Stewardship network, the position provides combined assurance across all Planning standards, processes and risks. With the current focus areas being business planning and closure, this is an exciting opportunity to make a difference across all South32 operations.

Reporting to the Lead Risk Performance & Stewardship, key role accountabilities will include:

Individual Accountabilities:

  • Support an inclusive and high performing team environment consistent with South 32 values
  • Design, execute and continuously improve the Planning Function stewardship programme
  • Develop the Planning Annual Stewardship Plan and allocate resources with the required skills, knowledge, and experience to carry out the plan
  • Ensure combined assurance across Planning standards, processes and risks
  • Facilitate the Planning Function’s Operating System (OS) to ensure stable and continuously improving performance
  • Champion the OS, coach and provide subject matter expertise
  • Facilitate an improvement platform and process as required. Align and integrate improvement initiatives with wider business activity and priorities
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate business planning and performance routines as defined by function and group requirements. Included but not limited to; business plan development and tracking, KPI development and tracking and monthly priorities
  • Support leaders in the application of visual performance aids and other information hubs/performance management routines and tools where required to manage team deliverables
  • Input into budgeting, workforce planning, priority planning and other management processes

About You

You will be required to have the following:

  • Previous experience in stewardship, and/or risk management, process improvement/optimisation preferred
  • Experience in business planning or closure within mining or relevant industry highly regarded
  • Technical and applied knowledge in business improvement and performance management methodologies preferred
  • Well-developed written and verbal communications skills essential
  • Report writing skills essential
  • Ability to influence and coach at all levels of the business

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Engineering or related disciplines or relevant qualifications with demonstrated experience in similar fields/roles
  • Stewardship/audit/business governance qualifications and/or experience in relevant discipline highly regarded

Location

This role will preferably be based at our office in the heart of the Perth CBD, however the option to work in our Brisbane based office is also available, this role can accommodate a diverse range of candidate’s requirements. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home)
