Principal Planner
Work location: Perth
Roster: Monday to Friday
Reporting to the Manager Planning, this is a key role as part of the Project Services team at FFI.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a project planning database that can report at portfolio level on key planning parameters including people resources, power generation, production and materials requirements.
- Interface with the project, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure adequacy, currency, and validity of reported planning data.
- Communicate analysis and insight from planning data to functional teams and the FFI executive.
- Develop, implement, and provide information into the lessons learned system to enhance retention and transfer of planning insight across FFI.
- Implement and maintain planning interfaces to manage integration of owner and contractor schedules.
- Document planning development requirements across all FFI functions and conduct/support project health checks against those requirements.
- Lead and support collaborative project planning across technical and project services functions.
- To ensure that planning activities have incorporated the requirements of project and appropriate regulation
- Present clear and concise planning reports, documentation on a regular basis, this would include bar charts and networks, man-hours loading, S-curves, productivity reports, basis of schedule and monthly reports
- Responsible for governance and assurance for the portfolio schedule and compliance with FFI planning requirements
- Ensure schedule change management is implemented across the portfolio
- Participate in schedule workshops and risk reviews etc.
- Leadership, support and development of less senior planners and schedulers
Qualifications and skills required:
- Degree qualification or equivalent in a construction, engineering discipline. There would also be significant benefit of trade/technician background with managerial experience, and/or have industrial/engineering operations expertise.
- Prior experience in a similar role preferably in the resources and renewable energy sector and complex construction and engineering environments.
- Minimum 15 + experience as a Principle, Lead and Senior Planner with a background in Project controls and estimating or similar.
- Experience of working for a multi-national (client-side) and for a main Tier 1 contractor.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment in collaboration with other like-minded team members and adjacent project teams (also delivering a variation of the system).
- A strong capability in adapting to multidisciplinary requirements communicating a range of engineering and commercial concepts to a range of expertise.
- Strong data management and manipulation skills, with excellent computer literacy skills.
- Strong team skills and willingness to travel
