About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Engineering Governance and Technical Stewardship, this role will lead the integration of several large programs of work which support program management of these projects, and undertake the process of progress tracking, reporting and surfacing of issues regarding the delivery of the project portfolio and the overall strategic commitment. 

In doing so, it will maintain a ‘single living source of truth’ system of strategic programs, projects and initiatives, at a granular level, and apply the system to develop reports on the delivery progress. 

The role will apply a sound and current understanding of BHP’s strategic objectives, their delivery status, and the steps required to realise them.

This role is based in Perth with occasional site travel.

In this role you will:

  • Integrate inputs from contributing departments on behalf of Project Manager, who retain full accountability for the project\area scope, schedule and cost.
  • Engage project stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives throughout the course of the execution phase through timely communication.
  • Contribute to the identification and management of project\area risks, communicating risks to relevant stakeholders and identifying solutions.
  • Deliver a forward plan strategy for programs of work in the Nickel West growth structure.
  • Coordinate implementation of value preservation practices, tools & processes to ensure project alignment to BHP Operating System and implementation of other improvement initiatives, including programmatic opportunities for increased capital efficiency and productivity in the sub-function.

About You

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting the management, monitoring and delivery of complex, multidisciplinary work programs. Ideally, you will bring a sound understanding of key business and mining industry performance drivers.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker that demonstrates business acumen, with the ability to focus and prioritise critical deliverables to provide timely insights to stakeholders.
  • Energetic and results-orientated, you work well under pressure and are comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Ability to establish credibility through your technical ability, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • You will be comfortable working in a complex matrix work environment and be able to engage with stakeholders in a global and dynamic organization through your culturally astute influencing, coaching and mentoring skills.
  • An ability to constructively challenge ideas and build trusted relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders will be essential.
  • While it is not mandatory, experience in mining or asset-intensive industry will be an advantage.
