The Opportunity - Permanent, Full Time Position
As the Principal Processing Future Ore you will be responsible for undertaking a concept study to determine the scope and preferred options to enable the future studies at South32’s Worsley Alumina Refinery and Bauxite Mine.
The purpose of the role is to Work with the Study Lead to identify and evaluate a diverse range of potential processing options in the Concept Study with a view to continuing to lead the processing stream in subsequent Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Studies. The Concept Study will exploring potential investment opportunities and eliminate development cases that are unviable. The role requires a high level and well-developed knowledge of Alumina processing, understanding of project practices and involves a high degree of interaction and coordination with related parties and projects.
The role will also interact with internal senior operational and functional stakeholders and will be expected to effectively manage integration and coordination with operating activities.
Key role responsibilities include:
- Actively promote and comply with South32 values and policies
- Health, safety and environment compliance and outcomes for Future Ore Study
- Contributing to the planning, execution, and delivery of the strategic studies; objectively, efficiently and effectively exploring the business cases of potential investment opportunities
- Develop and drive the development of broad range of Processing Options and Alternatives and comprehensive commercially relevant business cases evaluation of the investment opportunities.
- Management of internal indirect reports and of Management of external Engineering Service Provider (ESP)
About You
- Minimum 10 years+ of experience in Alumina Processing / Bayer Chemistry or relevant alternative experience with broad range of exposure to different operating facilities (preferred)
- Experience in facilitation of range analysis and opportunity/problem framing techniques (preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication with personnel at all levels
- Proficient to expert user in Microsoft office suite, including Word and Excel
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with a natural abundance of energy, warmth, and genuine enthusiasm
- Advanced communication skills, including the ability to present results to technical and non-technical audiences
- Basic economic analysis and evaluation skills (preferred)
- Experience in the development and delivery of discipline engineering and project deliverables
- Operating or project experience in an Alumina Refinery or comparable heavy industrial operation
- Risk management or other safety or assurance skills
- Delivery responsibility for large projects or studies
- Financial analysis, valuation, and business case assessment experience
Qualifications
- Relevant degree or extensive demonstrated experience (Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related)
Location
This role will be based at our office in the heart of the Perth CBD, with some travel required to domestic and international operations. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home)
