About the Role

Reporting to the Lead Mining Services Copper SA, you will be a senior member of the team accountable for delivering procurement services for mining operations and growth projects at Carrapateena, Oak Dam, Olympic Dam and Prominent Hill. Strongly aligned with BHP Charter Values, you will support the business by leading high value and strategically important sourcing activities that support Copper SA growth, being a trusted commercial contract advisor and through the identification and implementation of business improvements that drive cost savings across the category.

The role is based in Adelaide with periodic site/interstate travel required.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Building trusting relationships with key internal stakeholders and strategic vendors to become a highly valued commercial business partner
  • End to End procurement lifecycle management, including development of sourcing strategies and commercial models, tender management, contract negotiation and execution, and commercial contract management, including monitoring the performance of work under contract at both project and portfolio levels in line with contracted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and contracted milestones.
  • Driving business collaboration through cross functional teams to identify and execute opportunities that increase value through a reduction in total cost of ownership and improve safety and sustainability outcomes
  • Support the Lead in providing functional expertise, mentoring, coaching and guidance to the team whilst fostering a positive team culture

About You

Mandatory

  • A subject matter expert with deep experience in a contract and/or commercial role, ideally with demonstrated experience delivering high value sourcing activities in a major projects and/or construction environment (e.g. mining, defence and infrastructure).
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills including the ability to influence and build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial risk management and negotiating contract terms for high value contract
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational management skills
  • Strong coaching and mentoring ability
  • Ability to think laterally to independently resolve issues and influence change

Desirable

  • Experience and tertiary qualifications in engineering, law, commerce, finance or accounting will be highly regarded
  • A minimum of 8 years post qualification experience in senior commercial roles
  • Underground mining industry experience is preferred, but not essential.
