On 29th August 2024, Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) ownership changed from South32 to Gear M Illawarra Met Coal Pty Ltd trading as GM3. For an interim period between September 2024 to February 2025, South32 will continue to provide recruitment services on behalf of GM³. GM3 is an emerging Australian metallurgical coal mining entity owned by global investment entity Golden Energy and Resources (GEAR) and M Resources, a market leader in metallurgical coal industry services.

Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) produces premium quality, hard coking coal for steelmaking, which is transported within Australia and around the world. We operate two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a permanent full-time position based at the Regional Operations Centre, Port Kembla Coal Terminal in the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW, approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Sydney.

As the Principal Category Management – OEM and Critical Supplies, you will design and execute the Category strategy that will form the commercial framework for suppliers to support safe and reliable operation of our assets.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

  • Design sourcing strategies that integrate safety and sustainability objectives and deliver mutual benefits over short-, medium-, and long-term commercial relationships.
  • Lead strategic negotiations of manufacture and supply, and goods and services contracts.
  • Manage suppliers relationships.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

  • End to end Strategic Sourcing (scope to contract award).
  • Negotiation of Manufacture and Supply T&Cs.
  • Previous experience in Mining and Metals or Construction industry.

Qualifications for this position are: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Engineering, or related disciplines.
