About the Role

The Principal Procurement for West Australian Iron Ore (WAIO) is an important role within the WAIO Procurement leadership team, reporting to the Head of Procurement.  This role serves as a critical interface between Operations, Functions and Commercial by applying experience judgement and insight to drive performance, simplicity and delivery. 

This role provides leadership to ensure our Commercial Function delivers in line with the Asset business plan and prioritizes efforts to meet strategic safety, cost, productivity and social value goals.    Fun parts of the role include: •    Coordinates development of the improvement pipeline for WAIO Procurement •    Ensure ongoing alignment of key priorities between Asset and Commercial through regular interaction with key stakeholders •    Promotes and identifies low-cost vendor opportunities for Category Management •    Key co-ordination of the WAIO Procurement sourcing plan to ensure asset priorities are accounted for and executed and identify opportunities for value accretion.   •    Provides analysis and insight to identify opportunities and deliver value •    Supports the procurement team in evaluating tenders, price reviews, variations and other commercial activities.  •    Creates connection between sub-functions and relevant operational stakeholders where required and assists in locating the necessary people within Assets for sub-function engagement requirements and within the sub-functions for Asset priorities.  •    Supports the Head of WAIO Procurement as the single interface for Supply the asset, warehousing and the global functions.   •    Responsible for leadership of one part time trainee.

About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following attributes:

•    Bachelor’s degree from accredited university desirable •    Industry experience desired •    Experience in effectively managing or broadly influencing across teams  •    Commercial and business acumen •    Competencies in developing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships •    Proven results in delivering recognized value and improving processes through influencing •    Ability to analyse complex business processes, risk factors and control systems •    Experience with ERP systems  (SAP preferred) •    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills •    Passion for business improvement, leveraging workshops and people for idea generation, prioritisation and ability to build roadmaps to drive actions   •    Asset disposals and sales  •    Experience in operationally based Supply or Finance roles highly regarded
