About the Role

As the Principal Programs you will lead business critical programs that support our mine plan and other corporate goals for WAIO. You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the best outcome for the business in this dynamic project space.

This role is Perth-based with occasional travel to site and offers excellent flexibility.

Reporting to the Manager Engineering Modifications & Operational Projects your responsibilities will include:

  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to the BHP Charter values
  • Engage with a diverse group of stakeholders to integrate information and establish optimised plans
  • Explore the business context behind those plans, understand what is critical, and proactively identify risks to plan
  • Communicate clearly and succinctly performance against plan to enable leaders to manage direction and outcomes
  • Analyse performance and explore ways to continuously improve plans and ways of working
  • Influence and coach at all levels of the organisation to support successful delivery of the program
  • Inspire and motivate your stakeholders, whilst maintaining and fostering a caring, respectful culture

About You

  • Proven ability to manage challenges in proactive positive manner, with a problem-solving mindset
  • Tertiary qualified or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • Experience across all aspects of the Project lifecycle, preferably in a mining or similar industry environment   
  • Portfolio or Program management exposure is advantageous
  • Formal project management qualifications and accreditation, or experience within BHP will be beneficial
  • Learning agility – demonstrated ability to learn quickly, taking accountability, ensuring learnings are used as a platform for improvement
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage a variety of stakeholders effectively
  • Demonstrated high-level negotiation skills with the ability to influence both internal and external departments
  • Proficiency and confidence to present in both written and oral formats
