The Opportunity - Permanent, Full Time Position 

Reporting to the Manager Project Governance, we welcome applications for Principal Project Assurance, you will be responsible for establishing and delivering the framework and assurance services required to achieve benchmark capital performance and intensity across  the business.

This will be delivered across three key business drivers with core accountabilities including:


Health and Safety

  • Consistently deliver safe outcomes through creating and sustaining a culture of care and accountability as an enabler to continuously learn and improve on the way work is designed and executed

Technical Excellence

  • Provides project management expertise to local project teams
  • Facilitates the implementation of the project management framework.
  • Where applicable, ensure alignment with South32 project systems, tools and services as appropriate
  • Analyses of end-to-end project processes, data, organisation design and system effectiveness to identify improvement opportunities in project performance, collation of lessons learned and framework updates 
  • Plans and delivers Project Assurance / IPR on projects in accordance with the Investment Standard

Functional Integration 

  • Supports governance and assurance services to project activities and investment committees.
  • Supports alignment with other functional disciplines such as Business Evaluation, Finance, Asset Management & Supply
  • Supports the Project Governance Operating System
  • Supports the Capital Portfolio System, and Capital prioritisation process


About You 

  • 10 years project experience within a project and/or operational environment
  • Involved in project independent peer reviews of large mining developments over a minimum period of 5 years
  • Exposure to project management principles and good project practice for both development and delivery (mandatory)
  • Must understand the application of project frameworks and processes, performance metrics and benchmarking.
  • Previously participated in improvement and/or project teams 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with personnel at all levels
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with a natural abundance of energy, warmth, and genuine enthusiasm 
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), including creating reports, presentation skills (MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio) and with expectational writing ability

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification (Engineering, Construction, or related)


Location
This role will be preferably based at our office in the heart of the Perth CBD however candidtes from other locations are strongly encoraged to apply. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home) with some travel required to domestic and international operations
