We are looking for Principal Project Engineer – Electrical & Controls to build and lead an exciting new team within the Iron ore Capital Projects division. Leading a team of Project Engineers who will each be accountable for engineering management within the Electrical & Controls discipline. Be part of a transformational design of the capital projects division, to drive capital efficiency through newly developed consultant partnerships that deliver fit for purpose engineering design.

Reporting to the Manager Engineering, you will:

  • Lead and develop a team of Project Engineers within the Electrical & Controls discipline
  • Provide technical support and direction to team and project stakeholders
  • Develop strong partnerships with engineering service providers to deliver positive outcomes
  • Drive efficiency in engineering through standardised designed and program level engineering packages
  • Efficiently allocate and lead the team and resources across the full project lifecycle
  • Drive capital efficiency by ensuring fit for purpose designs and practical application of engineering standards
  • Work closely with Studies and Project Delivery leaders to ensure seamless integration of resources within a matrix organisation

What you’ll bring

  • Strong understanding of engineering management principles, including costs, quality and schedule which will include intimate knowledge of engineering deliverables and tasks throughout project lifecycles
  • Significant leadership experience and a proven track record of leading and mentoring team members in complex work environments
  • Actively seeking-out improvement opportunities and innovative solutions that lead to improved business performance
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate with senior management and external stakeholders 
  • Proficiency in engineering practices, including the preparation and review of engineering specifications, scopes and drawings
  • A proven track record of delivering medium to major capital projects in mining and/or other heavy industry.

Where you’ll be working

You and your team will be Perth-based with opportunity to work flexibly from home combined with time in our Central Park offices. There will be the requirement for ad-hoc Pilbara site travel to engage with relevant stakeholders.
